Nearly 300 grams of suspected narcotics were discovered during a traffic stop by the Litchfield Police Department Sunday night, Nov. 15, in the 500 block of West Union Avenue.
The traffic stop was executed at 11:36 p.m. by an officer with the Litchfield Police department due to an equipment violation. During the stop, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Kara A. Kennedy, 29, of Lakewood, CO, had a suspended driver’s license.
A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Nickolas K. Carpenter, 30, of Patton, PA, after initially providing false information to the officer. Carpenter had multiple active arrest warrants.
The two subjects were detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During this search, 81 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 217 grams of suspected cannabis and several items of drug paraphernalia were discovered.
Kennedy was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended.
Carpenter was held on a Denver County, CO, warrant and was additionally charged with obstructing identification, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
