The health department announced the 16th coronavirus death in Montgomery County over the weekend, capping a week in which 63 new cases were confirmed in the county.
The COVID-19 death was the third this month, and the 63 new cases resulted in a positivity rate for the week of 4.6 percent. In total, Montgomery County is up to 573 cases since the pandemic began with 11 test results pending.
The Litchfield School District learned on Saturday that a high school student tested positive.
“Those individual students or staff members who we believe were in ‘close contact’ will be contacted by the Montgomery County Health Department and placed in quarantine,” Superintendent Dr. Greggory Fuerstenau said.
