Owen Mally shot a 1-under-par 34 at Indian Springs on Tuesday, Sept. 10, to lead the Hillsboro boys to a victory over Greenville and Teutopolis.
Malloy's round was one of three in the 30s by the Hiltoppers as he beat out teammate Alex White for medalist honors by two strokes. Dane Huber would finish with a 39 for the third overall spot, while Wilson Hamby completed the sweep of the top four individual scores for HHS with a 42.
Gunnar Micnheimer and Tad Daniels would have been in the top four for both Greenville and Teutopolis, shooting rounds of 46 and 48 respectively.
Hillsboro's team score of 151 was 39 strokes better than Greenville's 190 and 49 better than the Wooden Shoes.
The Hillsboro JV would also defeat both of the varsity competitors, shooting a 182, with Preston Lyerla the low man with a 43. Dominic Haggard and Dillon Smail would add a pair of 46s, while Drake Vogel finished with a 47. Nate Reeves' 56 and Hayden Fuller's 55 rounded out the scoring for the junior varsity Toppers.
Hillsboro will be back at home on Thursday, Sept. 12, when they host PORTA and Auburn. On Friday, Sept. 13, they will play in this year's Mattoon Invitational.
