Painter Wins Triple Jump At Carlinville

The Litchfield boys track team would finish in the points in seven events and claim one first place finish on a cool and blustery Saturday, April 27, at the Jokisch-Grandone Invitational in Carlinville.

The Panthers would finish with 29 points to tie Auburn for eighth overall. Carlinville would win the event with 99 points, while Williamsville (73), Rochester (65), Jerseyville (43) and North Mac (38) rounded out the top ten.

Litchfield's win and two more of its top six finishes came from senior Sam Painter, who continues to excel at the triple jump and long jump. The LHS senior would win the triple jump with a mark of 41'6.5", three and a half inches over the state qualifying standard. Painter would also have a solid run in the 100 meters, clocking in at 12.22 to finish sixth.

In addition to Painter, Litchfield also grabbed third in the high jump, with Cameron Crow clearing 5'8", and sixth in the pole vault, with Will Carlile clearing 11'6".

In the relays, Crow joined Austin Niehaus, Damon Burdell and Alex Fischer in running an 8:56.15, which placed them fourth in a loaded 4x800 field. Litchfield also finished sixth in the 4x400, with Crow, Carlile, Niehaus and Fischer running a 3:46.05.

Litchfield will be in Hillsboro on Tuesday, April 30, as they compete in the annual South Central Conference meet.

Lady Panthers Tie For Fourth At Jokisch-Grandone

The Litchfield girls cross country team would come home with a top five finish at the Jokisch-Grandone Invitational in Carlinville on Saturday, April 27.

Despite cool and windy conditions, with rain dotting the event, the Lady Panthers would come away with 42 points, tying Hillsboro for fourth overall. Rochester would take first with 83 points, while Jerseyville (75) and North Mac (50) were second and third.

Good things would come in twos for Litchfield as Kylee Eiting and Carson Lemon both finished in the top six in two events. Eiting would place second in the 1600 with a time of 6:06.56, while also finishing third in the 3200 with a time of 12:49.33.

Lemon would be second in the 100 meter hurdles, running a time of 18.22, while also finishing second in the pole vault, with a height of 8'0".

Carly Guinn and Rylie Jagosh would also make the podium on the track, with Guinn running a 55.40 in the 300 meter hurdles to finish fourth and Jagosh finishing sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:08.24.

Guinn, Lemon and Jagosh would also play a part in two other events where Litchfield picked up points. The trio would team up with Lauren Thompson to run a 56.44 in the 4x100, good enough for sixth overall, while Guinn, Jagosh, Thompson and Hailey Bolte ran a 4:38.93 in the 4x400, good for a third place finish.

Litchfield will be in Hillsboro On April 30 for the SCC Meet.
