The Litchfield boys golf team finished eighth overall in the 18-team Bulldog Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 31, at Country Hills Golf Course near Greenview.
The Panthers would shoot a 405 as a team, 14 strokes behind Jacksonville Routt for seventh. Auburn would take the team title with a 344, followed by Rochester (379), Illini Central (379), Pleasant Plains (384), Illini Bluffs (388) and South County (388).
Anthony Boston would pace the Panthers, shooting a 16-over-par 88 on the 18-hole course. That score would be good enough to tie for tenth individually in the tournament.
Keagan Marten would add in a 101 for Litchfield, while Blake Rentz and Zach Boston added the other two scoring rounds with a 106 and a 110. Kelvin Dooley and Allen Schneider also got a taste of 18-hole play, shooting a 112 and a 118 respectively.
Litchfield Country Club
Litchfield's Anthony Boston shot a 5-over-par 40 at his home course of the Litchfield Country Club on Wednesday, Aug. 28, to help the Panthers to a second place finish against South Central Conference foes.
The Panthers would shoot a 195 to finish just four strokes behind Roxana for the top spot on Wednesday. Pana would be third with a 212, while Staunton also sent two golfers to Litchfield.
In addition to Boston, Litchfield got a 49 from Kelvin Dooley and a 51 from Keagan Marten. Blake Rentz and Allen Schneider were tied for the fourth spot with a 52, while Zach Boston also played, shooting a 56.
