Patricia A. “Pat” Russell, 79, died on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at Comforts of Home-The Lodge in River Falls, WI.
Graveside committal services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield, with Fr. Dan Willenborg of Holy Family Catholic Church presiding. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Russell was born July 1, 1943, in Litchfield, to Charles and Ruth (Whitlock) Holderread. She married Albert S. “Bert” Russell on Aug. 31, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Litchfield, and he survives.
She grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education at Illinois State University.
Once her children were grown, Mrs. Russell taught early childhood and special education. She loved playing the harp and piano, gardening and volunteering in many Litchfield organizations. She was a devout Catholic and loving mother and grandmother to her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Matt (Susan), Kris (Andy) Murgas and Kerri (Kevin) Schmedeke; grandchildren, Rachel (John) Mueller, Jonathan, Ryan (Abigail), Aspen and Eric Murgas, Katelyn, Daniel and Megan Schmedeke; great-grandchildren, Adam, Joey and Elena Mueller; brother, Jim (Nancy) Holderread; and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Ruth (Wayne) Liken.
