Patricia J. McConnell, 83, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at 8 a.m. at her granddaughter’s home in Hillsboro.

A private visitation and funeral service will be held at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy with the Rev. Edward G. Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy.

Mrs. McConnell was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Springfield, to Glen and Virginia (Linxwiler) Wilson. She married John H. McConnell on June 23, 1962, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2012.

During her career, she worked in the billing department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Quincy. She attended St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

In her spare time, Mrs. McConnell enjoyed planting flowers, with pink mandevillas being her favorite. She also enjoyed trips to Florida with her husband, where she savored her long walks on the beach. 

Baking pecan log rolls, shopping at the mall, and her dog Maggie were a few of her other favorite things. Most of all, she treasured time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed motorcycle trips with her husband.

Mrs. McConnell is survived by her two children, Becky (Asaad) Judeh of Kathleen, GA, and Terry (Ginny) McConnell of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Todd (Isabell) Crane of Scottsdale, AZ, Mark (Gosia) Crane of Germany, Stephanie (Patrick) Long of Hillsboro, Sarah Judeh of Tybee Island, GA, Joe Judeh of Austin, TX, Patrick McConnell and Sean McConnell, both of Springfield; five great-grandchildren, Sydney Crane, Augustyn Crane, Natalia Crane, Valorie Judeh and Christopher Long; one nephew, Christopher (Rebecca) Wilson of O’Fallon, MO; and one niece, Bonnie (Michael) Becker of St. Louis, MO.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
