Patrick “Pat” Boehler, 73, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Hillsboro.

Funeral services will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday June 14, at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Fr. Dan Willenborg officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.   A meal will follow the service at The Event Center of Montgomery County in Hillsboro.

Mr. Boehler was born Nov, 18, 1949, in Springfield to Nicholas Joseph and Lora Helen (Irwin) Boehler. He attended St. Isidore School in Farmersville and graduated high school from Lincolnwood High School in Raymond in 1967. He served in the US Marines during Vietnam from 1970-1974.

He retired as a guard from Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro.  He owned and operated Prairie Chicken Sporting Clays south of Hillsboro, as well as Boehler’s U-Pick strawberry farm. He had multiple hobbies that kept him busy.  Throughout his life, he enjoyed racing pigeons, gardening, growing fruit and nut trees, playing cards, reading western novels,  raising chickens and any other farm animal you can think of. He could also be found fishing, hunting, spending time with his kids and grandkids.

His greatest passion was breeding and running his beagle hounds. He was a member of NKC/ ARHA American Rabbit Hound Association.

He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Philcrantz in 1972 and she survives, along with children, Jesse Boehler of New Berlin, Jedd (Beth) Boehler of Woodhull, Jackie (Daniel) Drumeller of Martelle, IA, and Bobbi Boehler; grandchildren Madison Boehler, Wyatt Boehler, Colin Boehler, Haylee Boehler, Camryn Boehler, Daryn and Ryan Drumeller; many nieces and nephews; and siblings Philip (companion Marsha Mueller) Boehler of Waggoner, Barbara (Larry) McKinney of Taylorville and Virginia "Ginny" Brockmeyer of Raymond.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David, Don and Michael "Bo" Boehler; and one sister, Virginia "Betty" Tischkau.
