Peggy Jane Cruthis, 83, of Sorento, died on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at her home.
A family-hosted celebration of life will be held at the Sorento Fire Hall, located at 101 N. Main St. in Sorento.Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m., on April 6, at the Fire Hall. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. The family has entrusted Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home of Sorento with the ceremonies.
Mrs. Cruthis was born Oct. 21, 1940, in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Howard and Lola (Garland) Pritchett. She married Jack Cruthis, on Oct. 4, 1958, in Sorento.
Mrs. Cruthis was a lifelong resident of Sorento, attended Sorento schools and graduated with the Greenville High School class of 1958. She attended the Presbyterian church in Sorento, raised horses and was a member of the American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA), drove the school bus for 35 years for both the Greenville and Sorento schools, enjoyed sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren, watching them grow and learn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Shelby Duncan; and brothers, Drew and William ‘Bud’ Duncan.
Mrs. Cruthis is survived by her daughters, Delene (Roger) Marak and Twila Cruthis, both of Sorento; grandchildren, Aimee (Tom) Baker, Jaimee (Jared) Joiner, Brittnee Kunkel, Emilee (Jason Joiner) Kunkel, Wendy (Mike) Fitzpatrick, Kelsi Bowers and Kevin Busby; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family asks that memorials, in Mrs. Cruthis’ memory, be gifted to Supporters of Sorento Schools and/or the Sorento Presbyterian Church in lieu of plants, flowers, and other gifts.
