Philip L. Oltmann, 77

Philip “Phil” Larry Oltmann, 77, formerly of Nokomis, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021 in Abilene, TX.

Friends of the Oltmann family are respectfully invited to attend the graveside committal of Philip on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oltmann was born July 14, 1944 in Pana, the son of Milton and Wilma (Redeker) Oltmann. He was married to his wife, Doris, for 55 years.

Mr. Oltmann was raised in Nokomis and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduated from Nokomis High School. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University in Agricultural Business where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree. He interned for the Del Monte Corporation, then was employed by them for 28 years in Minnesota, Illinois and Texas. He was active in his churches as a youth sponsor and elder. Mr. Oltmann visited all 50 states and many parts of Europe, including a family farmstead in Germany. He enjoyed an active role in Master Gardeners and spent much time outside in his garden and yard.

Mr. Oltmann is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter Michelle (husband Kurt) Boyland; son Kenneth (wife Heather) Oltmann; and six grandchildren, Trek Boyland, Katherine Boyland, Kelly Boyland, Ryan Oltmann, Alaina Cavin, and Olivia Cavin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Denise Lea Ward.
