Pizza Man in Litchfield is well-known for helping those in need in and around the community of Litchfield. And Saturday Jan. 11, was no different. The establishment catered a free lunch to the Illinois Army National Guard Recruiting office in Litchfield for soldiers who are getting ready to leave for deployment.
"We appreciate Pizza Man taking care of us like this. We have approximately 90 soldiers getting ready for deployment at the end of January and they have been busy packing to leave," said Commander Tyler Brown. "Pizza Man said they wanted to do something really big for us before the soldiers leave."
Commander Brown went on to say that they have soldiers from many different areas both locally and nationally who are deploying.
"We have a very diverse group here in Litchfield. We have soldiers who are from Litchfield, Hillsboro, Raymond, Gillespie, Bloomington and Chicago, and even Wisconsin," said Commander Brown.
The soldiers will be deployed to the central command area of responsibility for approximately ten months on a security force mission. The last deployment for Litchfield was 2008-2009.
