Property tax bills will be mailed out next week, and the first installment will be due on Friday, July 12, according to Montgomery County Treasurer Nikki Lohman.
The treasurer anticipates tax bills will be mailed on or before Wednesday, June 12. The due dates will be Friday, July 12, for the first installment and Friday, Sept. 6, for the second installment. Late payment interest of 1 1/2 percent per month or fraction thereof, will be assessed on bills paid after the due dates.
"I would like to thank Supervisor of Assessments Ray Durston and staff, as well as County Clerk Sandy Leitheiser and staff, for their diligence in getting the 2018 tax information to the treasurer's office for processing," Lohman said.
Tax bills may be paid at the Montgomery County Treasurer's office, located in the Historic Courthouse on the first floor; by mail to Montgomery County Treasurer and Collector, 1 Courthouse Square, Room 101, Hillsboro, IL 62049; by depositing payment in a slot, located at the front door of the Montgomery County Courthouse (new courthouse), 120 North Main Street in Hillsboro; or online at montgomeryco.com, and follow the links to the Montgomery County Treasurer's page.
