Rams Score Wins Going Into Regional Tourneys

Hadley Seaton and Brenna Hayes both earned top individual honors as the Ramsey-Nokomis golf teams knocked off Windsor on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Rams home course of Ramsey Lake.

Seaton would shoot a 3-over-par 38 to lead the Rams to a 169 on the day, 103 strokes better than the visitors from Windsor. One of five juniors on this year’s roster, Seaton’s round helped the Rams improve to 5-5 on the year.

He wasn’t the only one to play well, though, as all seven Ramsey players shot within 15 strokes of par on Wednesday. Griffin Wright would be right behind Seaton with a 39, while Lane Austin added a 41.

Matt Hill would shoot an 8-over-par 43, while Dallas Sneddon finished with a 47. Wyatt Marley and Cole Wanger wrapped up Wednesday’s lineup as they shot scores of 49 and 50 respectively.

Hayes was within ten strokes of par on the girls side as she led a trio of Lady Rams with a 44. Coree Keagy would add in a 57, while Clara Kleiboeker finished with a 61 for Ramsey, who is now 4-6 on the year.

The victory came on the heels of a match at Colonial Golf Course in Sandoval on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The girls would use the match as a practice round and did not keep scores, while the boys finished second to Christ Our Rock Lutheran of Centralia.

The Silver Stallions shot a 176 to take the top spot, with Ramsey a scant four strokes behind them with a 180. Sandoval would be third on their home course with a 193.

Griffin Wright led a balanced Ramsey group, which had just eight strokes between the six players. Wright’s 43 would be two strokes better than teammate Wyatt Marley and three better than Hadley Seaton and Dallas Sneddon, who rounded out the scorers for the Rams.

Cole Wanger and Lane Austin would also play, shooting a 48 and a 51 in the fifth and sixth slots.

The strong showing boosts the Rams going into the postseason, which begins on Oct. 6 for the boys and Oct. 7 for the girls. The boys will be at Timber Lakes Golf Course in Staunton for the Mt. Olive Regional, while the girls will play at Lakeshore Golf Course at the Taylorville Regional.
