Ray L. Hemken, 68

Ray Lyle Hemken, 68 of Litchfield,  died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Hillsboro. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov.  21, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service funeral home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 p.m., Tuesday, Nov.  21, also at the funeral home. Officiating is Pastor Rudy Elam, and burial will follow in Crabtree Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Hemken was born Feb. 13, 1955, in Litchfield, a son of Charles Leslie Hemken and Dorothy Kathleen Watson Hemken.  He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1973, and married Sandra Kay Bone on July 16, 1982.

Mr.Hemken was employed as a union welder for Tru-Weld and at Georgia Pacific as a fork lift operator.  He was a member of the Litchfield Moose Club.  Mr. Hemken loved dirt track racing, listening to music in the garage and mowing his yard.  He always enjoyed a snack and a can of coke.    

Mr.Hemken is survived by his sons Jerry Joe (Lyssa) Laurent of O'Fallon and Justin (Katie) Hemken of Annandale, VA, daughter Casey (Mark Timmermann) Logsdon of Litchfield and son Leslie "Levi" Hemken of Litchfield; 14 grandchildren; siblings, brothers Lloyd  Hemken of Litchfield, Kevin Hemken of Walshville and Paul Hemken of Sorento and sisters Wilma Osborne of Staunton, Nancy Koonce of Litchfield, Nora Tolby of Litchfield and Phyllis Biermann of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Hemken was preceded in death by his spouse, Sandra Kay Hemken on Sept. 17, 2017; as well as his parents, twin brother, Rick Hemken; sister, Gertrude Bearden; and brother, Jason Hemken.
