A Raymond man is dead after a single-vehicle auto accident on Sunday evening, Oct. 13, in Farmersville.
Ben W. Pope, age 48, of Raymond, was pronounced dead on the scene by Montgomery County Coroner Randy Leetham.
Illinois State Police District 18 troopers responded to investigate the crash on South East Road approximately 130 feet north of the intersection of Elevator Street in the city of Farmersville.
At approximately 6:18 p.m., a black Chrysler van was traveling northbound on South East St. The van left the roadway to the left and struck an awning and two parking posts of a nearby building.
Charles R. Mackay, age 54, of Raymond, was a passenger in the vehicle and refused medical treatment on the scene. He was released with no apparent injuries.
The Illinois State Police continues to investigate this incident, and no additional information is available at this time.
