Raymond Sylvester Stewart, Jr., 82, of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at 11:05 a.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The family plans to hold a private memorial service at a later date. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting with arrangements
Mr. Stewart was born on May 24, 1937, in Hillsboro, to Raymond Sylvester and Jessie Mae (Hamilton) Stewart, Sr. He married Carmen Fernandez Rodriguez on Feb. 21, 1959, in Madrid, Spain. She preceded him in death in 2001.
He graduated from Lincolnwood High School in Raymond. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired after 23 years of service. He also worked in the meat department at Wal-Mart.
Mr. Stewart is survived by soul mate, Peggy Hughes of Litchfield; children, Raymond Stewart, III of Hawaii, Edward Stewart of West Palm Beach, FL, Jessie Stewart of West Palm Beach, FL, and Theresa Raess of Switzerland; two brothers, Alex (Rose) Stewart of Litchfield, John (Linda) Stewart of Gillespie; one sister; five grandchildren, Levi S. Painter; Travis W. Painter; William Stewart, Max Stewart, and Lucus Stewart; and eight-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister.
