Rebecca “Becky” Schweizer, 65, of Witt, died on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Hillsboro Health, surrounded by family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 21, at 9 a.m., also held at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Nokomis.

Mrs. Schweizer was born in Xenia, OH, on Feb. 1, 1960, to Claude and Elizabeth (Nell) Armstrong. She moved to Nokomis at age 13, where she met her best friend, Kim Henschen. She graduated from Nokomis High School in 1978 and went to nursing school.

She married the love of her life, Dave Schweizer, on May 24, 1980, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis, and he survives.

Mrs. Schweizer worked as a nurse for 46 years in many different settings including Taylorville and Hillsboro Hospitals, Golden Manor Nursing Home in Nokomis, Litchfield Family Practice and finished her career at Montgomery County Health Department as a strong advocate for the breast and cervical cancer program. Nursing was her passion and through her work she inspired many others to work in health care.

There was never a dull moment when Mrs. Schweizer was around and frankly, she would just “tell you how it is”. So many lives were touched by her care and compassion.

In addition to her husband Dave, Mrs. Schweizer is survived by her brother, John (Mary) Anuci of New Lebanon, OH, and Bob Armstrong of Sherman, TX; children, Amanda (Cris Miller) Payne of Witt, Angela (Joseph) Mahaffey of Vandalia, Ashley (Matt) Sanders of Philo and Allison (Aaron) Wood of Ohlman; grandchildren, Sean, Zane, Madelyn, Tucker, Konnor, Taelyn, Johnathon, Adaleigh and Leah; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Anuci and Jim Anuci and sister Rose Jackson; and granddaughter, Scarlett.
