Rena J. Langer, 80

Rena Joan (Greer) Langer, 80, of Livingston, died on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025 at her residence in Livingston.

No services are scheduled. Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Langer was born on Jan. 13, 1944, in North Litchfield Township in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Chester James and Ollie Marie (Neldon) Greer. She married John Ridenhower in March of 1963. She later married Alfred Langer in March of 1975, and he preceded her in death in 2016.

She was employed as a waitress and cook at local diners for several years and later owned Al’s Tavern in Livingston in the early 1990s. She was also a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.

She was a competitive card player and loved to beat her family at Rummy. She loved the Chicago Cubs and seeing them win the World Series in 2016. She was a great cook and loved to feed the ones she loved and loved sharing meals with her loved ones. She had a generous heart and would give to anyone in need. She had a contagious smile and laugh and would often get herself tickled to the point of tears. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to garden and enjoyed her flowers.

Mrs. Langer is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) Crumbey of Livingston; son, Frank (Jodee) Langer of Staunton; grandchildren, Kristy (Fred) Peterson of Livingston, Kevin Crumbey of Bunker Hill, Jesse Crumbey of Livingston, Lacey Jo Crumbey of Livingston and Bryle and Bryanna Langer of Staunton; stepgrandson, Bryce Buzick of Mt. Olive; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Peterson, Natalee Crumbey, Caleb and Colbey Crumbey and Joshua Jones; sister, Pansy Day of Litchfield; brother, Lee (Terry) Greer of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gene Bobblitt; and brother, Jack Kean.
Memorials are suggested to either the Livingston/Williamson Fire Department, or to the Livingston Park Association.
