State Rep. Wayne Rosenthal (R-Morrisonville) was to be appointed Wednesday by Gov. Bruce Rauner to serve as director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), the state agency that regulates hunting, fishing, and all of the state's natural resources including mines and minerals.
Rosenthal farms in Macoupin, Montgomery and Christian counties and also operates a hunting preserve. He flew fighter jets as part of a 30-year Illinois Air National Guard career.
He is serving his second term as State Representative for the 95th House District, which includes all of Montgomery County and portions of Christian, Macoupin and Madison counties.
Rosenthal was the chief sponsor last year of a bill that would have allowed the hunting of bobcats. Quinn, in his final days in office, vetoed that bill.
