Rev. Robert J. “Bob” Mosser, 71

The Rev. Robert James “Bob” Mosser, 71, of Litchfield, died on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 2 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 18, beginning at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Litchfield, 1303 North 18th Avenue, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus and the Rev. Roy Eller co-officiating. Military honors will be conducted and cremation rites will follow the service.

Rev. Mosser was born April 8, 1948, in Decatur, to George and Barbara (Smith) Mosser. He married Glenda Sue Jones on Sept. 28, 1974, in Decatur, and she survives.

He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

During his career, Rev. Mosser served as a corrections officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections in Graham Correction Center in Hillsboro for 27 years.

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Litchfield, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and vocational pastor. He enjoyed reading, painting mini figurines, spending time with his granddaughters and watching western movies.

In addition to his wife, Rev. Mosser is survived by his son, Adam (Helena) Mosser of Mansfield, TX; sister, Angie (Wayne) Moody of Litchfield; and two granddaughters, Elsa and Audrey Mosser.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
