Richard Alan Micenheimer, 80, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, at 11 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Micenheimer was born Jan. 2, 1941, the New Years baby for Hillsboro, to Melvin Pete and Marie Esabelle (Emmons) Micenheimer. He married Emma Lavonne Logsdon on Feb. 20, 1959, in Goldsboro, NC, and she preceded him in death in May 2012.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1958 to 1960. After graduating, he later received a certificate of completion in computer science from LLCC in 1987.

Mr. Micenheimer was a self-employed handy man and did lawn care. In his earlier years, he worked as a welder at Fiat Allis.

He attended Southside Church in Litchfield. He collected trains, coins and matchbox cars, and enjoyed fishing and playing his luck with lottery scratch off tickets.

Mr. Micenheimer is survived by his son, Richard A. Micenheimer II of Litchfield; daughter, Angela (Wayne) Pezold of Litchfield; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) Sparks, Kim (Jimmy) Hamilton, Kevin (Tiffany) Pezold and Kyle Pezold; and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan Sparks (US Navy), Taylor Sparks, Bryce Sparks, Wyatt Sparks, Ashley Sparks, Jarrod Land, Austin Hamilton and Tyler Hamilton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter in infancy, Cynthia Micenheimer; sister, Frances Webb; and great-granddaughter in infancy, Lilly Sparks.
