Richard Yewell “Dick” Umberger, 83, of Nokomis, died on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.
Mr. Umberger was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Owaneco, to Yewell M. and Irene (Jones) Umberger. He married Sherrill Popovich in 1975, in Hillsboro, and she survives.
During his career, he served as an over-the-road truck driver and worked for the city of Nokomis.
Mr. Umberger was an avid tractor collector and a member of the Old Tyme Collector’s Club in Pana.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Joseph (Ellen) Umberger of Taylorville; daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Carraher of Taylorville and Christine (Loren) Compton of Nokomis; sister, Vicki Maedge of Staunton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Umberger was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Woodside, Betty Holliday and Lillian Kessler; and infant brother, Paul Umberger.
