Rita L. Roth, 95, of Pana, died on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Pana.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana. Funeral mass will be celebrated afterward, at 10 a.m. at the church, with Father Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Kennedy and Sons Funeral Directors of Pana is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Roth was born on Aug. 30, 1925, the daughter of John C. and Elizabeth M. (Bedinghaus) Krager in their country home, northwest of Harvel, the youngest of eight children. She married Edward L. Roth on June 28, 1950, at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond.

Mrs. Roth attended Mount Vernon Country Grade School and graduated from Harvel High School with the class of 1943. After marriage, she lived on a farm west of Pana for 53 years before moving to Pana in 2003. She was a homemaker and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Roth was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, as well as being a member of St. Patrick’s C.C.W. (currently known as St. Patrick’s Ladies Society) where she attended many of their diocesan conventions. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Circle, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Morrisonville, and Christian County Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Roth is survived by her children, Louis Roth of  Mesa, AZ, Delores (Bob) Schafer of Pana, Larry Roth of Taylorville, Diane Roth of Aurora, CO,  Alice Wilderman of Pana, Roger (Kathy) Roth of Evansville, WI, and Teresa (Kent) Metzger of Gays.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Pauline Krager, Catherine (Roy) Boehler, Frank (Norma) Krager,  Marie (Roy) Jones, Henry (Lucille) Krager  and two brothers in infancy; and son, Frank J. Roth.
