Robert G. Batty, 65, of Nokomis, died on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at 8:33 p.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nokomis Memorial Park House. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.
Mr. Batty was born June 26, 1955, in Decatur, to Robert and JoAnn (Bode) Batty, Sr. He married Pam Pavolka on April 9, 1983, at St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Nokomis, and she survives.
He was a plumber by trade, but his passion was being a volunteer fireman for the Nokomis Fire Department and an EMT for Nokomis-Witt Area Ambulance.
Mr. Batty served several terms on the Nokomis Park Board. He was instrumental in the present Pool Fund effort by researching and applying for many of the grants and funding.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Ed) Hassebock of Nokomis; son, Tyler (Brittney) Batty of Nokomis; grandchildren, Alyson, Ella, Hayden, Jaxson, Kota, Justin and Jade, all of Nokomis; brother, Stuart (Melissa) Batty of Nokomis; and sisters, Darah Cochran of Tell City, IN, and Leslie Batty of Georgia.
