Robert L. Baron, 80, of Donnellson, died on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at 5:06 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Dan Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Burial will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro. Cremation rites will be accorded and graveside military rites will be conducted at a later date.

Mr. Baron was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Taylor Springs, to George Leo and Esther (Payne) Baron, Sr. He married Marcia Dickerson, and they later divorced. He later married Sylvia Hemingway, and she preceded him in death.

Following high school graduation, he earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Baron worked as an engineer at Boeing and several different firms. 

During his lifetime, he resided in Taylor Springs, Texas, California, Florida, Vermont and Donnellson. He loved fishing, shooting, NASCAR racing, mowing grass, go-cart and motorcycle racing, and loved his two cats, Billy Bob and Rosie.

Mr. Baron is survived by his children, Bobbi Jo Baron of Smithton, Ami J. Baron, Jason Scott Baron, Robert Baron, Jr., all of Belleville, Marni M. Baron of Gautier, MS, and Lori L. Dickerson of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sue Baron of Quincy.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, George "Jack" Baron, Jr.
