Robert L. “Bob” Cummings, 82, of Kincaid, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at 11:47 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
Mr. Cummings was born May 7, 1937, in Palmer, the son of William and Anna (Gatewood) Cummings, Sr. He married Sandra E. Harris on Oct. 5, 1959, in Kincaid, and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2010.
He retired from Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee. He was a member of the U.M.W.A., and he enjoyed mining, carpentry, metal fabrication, blue grass music and riding the rail cars at the mine. He also worked intermittently as a teamster driving trucks.
Known as “Bob,” he was affectionately known by all around the Midland area. He especially enjoyed socializing with his friends at Bart’s.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny Lyn Wolfe of Tovey; three grandchildren, Charles Phillip Wolfe, Jr. and his significant other Catrice Dowd of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Laci L. (husband Tim) Watson of Taylorville and Robert H. Wolfe of Morrisonville; six great-grandchildren, Ava Elizabeth, Roman, Ellen, Alba, Dakota and Charlie; two sisters, Jean Pagliai of Kincaid, Carolyn (husband Harry) Summers of Coello; one brother, Richard Cummings of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Grace Cornwell; Mary Ann Anderson, Shelby Behl and Helen Booker; one brother, William Cummings, Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Dalton Jeffery Christian.
