Robert Lee Darte, 70, of Gillespie, died on Monday, April 1, 2019, at 7:46 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 5, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jared DePoppe officiating. Burial will follow in Gillespie Cemetery.
Mr. Darte was born April 21, 1948, in Litchfield, to Kennard and Beulah (Chappell) Darte. He married Pamela Olmsted, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 2017.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and went on to teach at Southwestern Illinois College.
Mr. Darte is survived by his father of Mt. Clare; a son, Jason Darte of Gillespie; grandchildren; Connor and Belle Darte; and a sister, Patricia (Rickey) Rhodes of Worden.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother.
