Robert O. Hoffmann, 89, of Highland, died on Monday, June 12, 2023, at his home.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland. Funeral services will  follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Scott Busacker, pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Hoffman was born on Tuesday, March 27, 1934, in Manchester, MO,  the son of Marvin and Ida (nee Kraus) Hoffmann. He married Joyce Ann (nee Wilson) Hoffmann on Saturday, May 7, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wentzville, MO.

Mr. Hoffman was born in Manchester, MO, and raised in Troy, MO, where he was a 1951 graduate of Troy Buchanan High School. He served in active duty with the United States Army from Jan 10, 1957 to Dec 20, 1958, stationed in Germany; he also served in the US National Guard from 1961 to 1962. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman lived in Troy, MO, for 19 years. The family then moved to Greenville, where they lived until March of 1985. Then they moved to Effingham until 1997, at which time they then moved to Highland.

Mr. Hoffman worked in construction until 1979, then worked for Farm Service in Greenville and later transferred in 1985 to the Farm Service office in Effingham. He retired from Farm Service in 1996. While his boys were growing up, Mr. Hoffman served as a scout leader. He also drove a school bus for a number of years. In his retirement, he enjoyed working for Family Care Pharmacy, delivering prescriptions. Mr. Hoffman was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, where he was a church elder and a Sunday school leader. Mr. Hoffman enjoyed gardening, reading, sports, dogs and working out. He was an avid collector of Nascar cars and cards.

Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife; children, Robert Dale (Rebekah) Hoffmann of Highland, Linda Jane (John) Leidel of  Greenville and David Allen (Erin) Hoffmann of Wentzville, MO; grandchildren, Nicole C. (David) Sizemore of St. Jacob, Melissa D. (Ryan) McCoy of  O’Fallon, MO, Sarah R. (fiancé Michael Cheek) Hoffmann of Fenton, MO,  of Christopher J. (Samantha) Leidel of Greenville, Emily D. Henson of Highland and Ryan A. (Lorine Adams) Hoffmann of Wentzville, MO; great-grandchildren, Ryker C. Henson, Zoey J. Baker, Declan S. Henson, Harlow J. Cheek, Audrey M. Sizemore, Daisy J. Leidel, Brenden L. Sizemore and Jaycee J. Walker; siblings, Arthur (Carol) Hoffmann of Montgomery City, MO, Marvin (Lois) Hoffmann of Troy, MO; and sister-in-laws, June Hoffmann of Troy and Mary Taylor of Russellville, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild Joshua R. Hoffmann in infancy; sister, Irene Eddy on March, 6, 2007; and brother, Henry Hoffmann on Aug. 26, 2021.
