Robert “Bob” Ware Mullins, 83, of Hillsboro, died on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at 12:37 p.m. at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Graveside services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at Wares Grove Cemetery in Butler with the Rev. Stefan Munker, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1306 and American Legion Post #425. Those attending are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines by social distancing and wearing masks.

Mr. Mullins was born June 1, 1937, in DeKalb, to Alvin L. and Mary Elizabeth (Ware) Mullins. He married Joyce M. Westphal on April 24, 1966, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 2000.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1955 and served his country in the U.S. Army between the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.

Mr. Mullins worked for F.S. for 42 years, where he ran a gas truck for over 30 years and served as manager for his last seven years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, Moose Lodge #1377 in Hillsboro, Farm Bureau in Hillsboro, and was a volunteer at Bremer Sanctuary in Hillsboro. During his lifetime, he resided in the Shabona, Butler and Hillsboro areas.

Mr. Mullins is survived by his son, Eric (wife Tammy) Mullins of Pawnee; daughter-in-law, Belinda Mullins of Lombard; five grandchildren, Brittany (husband Isiah) Wills, Sammy Jo Reardon, Brandi Reardon, Kaitlyn Mullins and Zachary Mullins; brother, A. John Mullins of Elgin; and two sisters, Ann Tindall of Kenosha, WI, and Marilyn (husband Michael) Maccanelli of Butler.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Rodney Mullins.
