Ronald Lee Bishop, Sr., 75, of Sesser, formerly of Litchfield, on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at 3:15 p.m. at Franklin Hospital in Benton.

A celebration of life will be held at Litchfield Moose Lodge at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, for a time of food, fellowship and sharing of stories. Visitation will be held at noon, until the time of service, on Sunday, Feb. 9, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Bishop was born on Aug. 18, 1944, in Ottawa, to Warren Edgar and Gertrude Frances (Faris) Bishop. Mr. Bishop was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He married Sandra Kay Ulrich on March 1, 1969, and they later divorced. He married Marsha Joan (Spann) Wilt on May 12, 2018, at Rend Lake.

Mr. Bishop was a coal miner for Consolidated Coal Co. in Sesser. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Bishop worked for Aramark for 16 years until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with old cars.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife; children, Ronald, Jr., (Kelly) Bishop of Frankfort,Cory (Shannon) Bishop of Litchfield and Keri Bishop of Litchfield; step-children, Wesley (Jenifer) Wilt of Pinkneyville, Carla Wilt of Benton and Brandi Wilt of Sesser; a sister, Carolyn (Roy “Bub”) Hendrickson of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Haley, Allison, Chloe, Kyra, Brawly, Rylie, Raquel, and Brock; seven step-grandchildren, Avery, Brody, Anthia, Hannah, Stavian, LaRaya, and Aniyah; and two step-great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Hallie

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Zyan Bishop.
