Ronald Dean Carney, 65, of Gillespie, died at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 5:47 p.m.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Carney was born December 10, 1960, in Litchfield, to Howard W. Carney and Marvella June “Marvey” Meyer Carney. He was a truck spotter for Georgia Pacific and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycles.
Mr. Carney is survived by his companion, Ellen Brown of Gillespie; stepsons, Seth Brown and Zane Brown, both of Gillespie; step-grandchildren, Lily, Ian and Jase; sisters, Donna (Chuck) Westhoff and Vickie (Tom Sorbie) Brown, both of Gillespie; nephews, Chuckie Westhoff, Michael Westhoff, Ryan Brown, Andy Brown and Alex Brown; and beloved dog, Sammy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Carney.
