Ronald E. Rhodes, 81, of Irving, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, at 7:30 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ryan Follis of First Baptist Church in Nokomis officiating.
Mr. Rhodes was born June 26, 1938, in Carlinville, the son of the late Clifford and Laura (Sanderson) Rhodes. He married Sandra Sue Bailey on March 31, 1961, in Hillsboro, and she survives.
A graduate of Carlinville High School, he lived in Carlinville, Moweaqua and Irving. He was a forklift driver at Firestone Tire Company in Decatur. He loved to play Bingo, metal detecting and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Cathy (husband Terry) Schmidt of South Carolina, Butch (wife Carol) Rhodes of Irving, Jody (husband Jerry) Ehlers of Hillsboro and Rhonda Rhodes of Irving; seven grandchildren, Tegan, Josie, Haley, Lauryn, Christie, Tiffany and Zack; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Barry Rhodes, Jerry Rhodes, Denny Rhodes and Les Rhodes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Dean Rhodes.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer Unit at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
