Ronald Eaton, Jr., 60, of Taylor Springs, formerly of Litchfield, died on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at his residence.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Eaton was born on Sept. 24, 1961, in Granite City, to Ronald and Patsy (Smith) Eaton, Sr. He married Tena Collins on Aug. 18, 2017. Mr. Eaton served in the US Navy from 1979 to 1989. He was a graduate of Granite City High in 1979 and received an associate’s degree in business management.

Mr. Eaton managed various restaurants and convenience stores, and was an over-the-road truck driver from 1991 to 2001. Mr. Eaton served as president and superintendent of Montgomery County Veterans Assistance Commission and was a retail merchandiser since 2007. He was an ordained minister. Mr. Eaton was a member of the American Legion Post #701 in Waggoner and past division commander-Sons of the American Legion.

Mr. Eaton is survived by his wife; six children, Cherie McBride of Granite City, Ryan McBride of Denver, CO, Ronald Eaton of Nokomis, Marvin Parsons of Kaufman, TX, Ashley Collins of Morton and Kenneth Collins of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Calvin and Emma Eaton, Chase Cotton,  Ezekiel Smith, Shirley, Nikki, Codie Montgomery, Ian Mackey; and two sisters, Ruth Kent of AZ, and Debra Feenstra of Granite City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Montgomery; one brother, Michael Bird; and one sister, Pam Lewis.
