Ronald Gene Fry, 65, of rural Hillsboro, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at 3:42 a.m. at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ed Fogle officiating. Burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Fry was born Sept. 29, 1953, in Malden, MO, a son of O.C. and Louise (Hodges) Fry. He married the former Nancy Kay Heck on June 10, 1972, in Malden, MO, and she survives. 

He was employed at Echlin Manufacturing Brake Parts Company, Affinia Corporation in Litchfield for over 30 years as a manufacturing line and equipment maintenance man, and he retired from there.

A member of the Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377, he enjoyed working on old cars, watching car races, doing woodworking projects, riding his motorcycle and gardening. 

He and his wife operated a greenhouse called Fry's Country Flowers. They served as foster parents to many children over the years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sandra (JR) Petty of Mt. Olive, Tina Hortenstine of Cumberland Furnace, TN and Marsha (Kenneth) Ball of Ft. Stewart, GA; four adopted children, William, Antone, Cheyanne and Chloe; one sister, Mary Ann (Jerry) Davis; eight grandchildren, Brittany and Jacob Petty, Ashley Boucher, Brooklyn and Nick Hortenstine, Mikayla and Katelynn Ball and Kristen Allen; and one great-granddaughter, Alidia Petty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by adopted son, Darren Scott Fry; brother, Robert Fry and son-in-law, Luke Hortenstine.

Memorials may be made to the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
