Ronald Gene Thiessen, 85, of Raymond, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Carlinville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thiessen was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Litchfield, to Henry Otto and Ruby Rae (Logsdon) Thiessen. He married Judy Varner on June 10, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, and she survives.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and went on to work at the Western Union Substation in Carlinville. He then served as a farmer.
Mr. Thiessen enjoyed repairing watches, woodworking and was a lifelong Cubs fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joel (companion Rena) Thiessen and Jan (companion Missy) Thiessen, both of Raymond; five grandchildren, Joey (Aaron) Crager, Jamie, J.R., Lauren and Justin Thiessen; two great-grandchildren, Shealie and Dylan Crager; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Thiessen of Litchfield and Dorothy (Leonard) Bomkamp of Carlinville.
Mr. Thiessen was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry and Bill Thiessen.
