Ronald "Ron" Reeves, 78, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with Father Brian Alford officiating.

Mr. Reeves was born June 16, 1941, in Pittsburg, KS, to Gilbert and Eva (Loyd) Reeves. He married Karen Mayol on Sept. 15, 1962, and she preceded him in death in 2010.

A graduate of Cathedral Boys High School in Springfield, he was a graduate of SIU Carbondale with a degree in forestry.

He worked for IDOT District 4 as a landscape architect before owning and operating Illinois Wood Preserve in Hillsboro. He was of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Reeves was a past member of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, the Hillsboro Area Hospital Board and Hillsboro city councilman. He loved his family and the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one daughter, Lori (Dan) Ernst of Rochester; two sons, Del (Wendy) Reeves of Rochester and Bret (Michelle) Reeves of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Miranda, Regan, Allison, Matthew and Nathan; and one brother, Gary Reeves of New Mexico.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Reeves in 2018.

Memorials may be made to Montgomery County Cancer Association.
