Ronald Rosko, 86, of Witt, died on Friday, July 24, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Cremation rites will be accorded and no services are planned, per Mr. Rosko’s request. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Witt is assisting the family.

Mr. Rosko was born Dec. 18, 1933, in Witt, to Tom and Gilda (Scopel) Rosko. He married Dee Ann Porter on April 30, 1960, and she survives.

He graduated from Witt High School and served in the U.S. Navy, from 1951 to 1954.

During his career, Mr. Rosko worked at Anaconda Brass and Copper in Kenosha, WI, Caterpillar Co. in Decatur, Eagle Picher in Hillsboro, Chicago Bridge and Iron in Coffeen, Freeman Coal Mine Coal I in Farmersville, Consolidated Coal Co. in Coffeen, served as manager of Crown III in Farmersville and state mine inspector in Springfield, and Turris Coal Co. in Elkart. He and his wife also owned and operated R&D Tavern in Witt, from May 1969 to May 1979.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Russian Church in Benld, Witt Lions Club, Irving Masonic Lodge #455 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #1306 in Taylor Springs.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Rosko is survived by his daughter, Jean Ann; grandchildren, Kelsey and Matt Rapp of Florida; and brother, George Rosko of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Arthur Rosko; and two grandchildren, Lindsay Dee Anderson and Nickolas Porter Rapp.
