Rosemary “Rosie” I. Hopwood, 79, of Hillsboro, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 3, beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Eller, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in rural Litchfield, officiating. Burial will follow at Wares Grove Cemetery in rural Butler.

Ms. Hopwood was born April 8, 1941, in Montgomery County, to John and Agnes (Haggarty) Whitlow. She married Winean Hopwood, and they later divorced.

During her career, she tended bar for over 30 years, and also worked at Roller Derby. A lifelong resident of Montgomery County, she was a member of the Ladies of the Moose in Litchfield since 1973.

Ms. Hopwood is survived by her children, Shirley (husband, Dave) Davis of Hillsboro, Rick Hopwood of Coffeen, Sandra (husband, Greg) Singleterry of Taylor Springs and Ron (wife, Kelley) Hopwood of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Nick Hopwood, Holly Singleterry, Zack Hopwood, Chloe Hopwood, Crystal Restifo, Jason Davis, Makenzie Bellaver and Brock Bellaver; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Guy (wife, Norma) Whitlow of Nokomis, Sam (wife, Barb) Whitlow of Hillsboro and Grace “Sally”Schuerman of Nokomis.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
