Roy Adkins, 94, of Ohlman, died on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Sutton Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bert Eickhoff officiating. Burial will be held in Ohlman Cemetery in rural Ohlman.

Mr. Adkins was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Audubon Township in Montgomery County, to Bryan and Iva (McCain) Adkins. He married Genevieve Phegley on June 4, 1950, in Lakewood, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2017.

A farmer, he was a member of The Rose City Twirlers, as well as many square dance clubs.

Mr. Adkins is survived by his sons, Gary Phegley of Taylorville, Terry (companion Judy Voss) Adkins of Ohlman and Dan (Anna) Adkins of Nokomis; daughter, Patty (John) Vedder of Nokomis; grandchildren, John Vedder, Pixie (Jamie) Vieweg, Bobby (Melissa) Vedder, Leslie (Larry) Farris, Brent Adkins, Amanda (Mike) Thompson and William Adkins; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Chase Vieweg, Kadyn, Gage and Nora Vedder and Bailey and Cody Ferris; great-great-granddaughter, Aria DeWitt; brothers, George Adkins, John Adkins, James Adkins and Kenneth Adkins; sisters, Ruby Moore and Betty Smith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola Duncan, Edith Moomey, Lillie Markham and Rosa Scoughton; and brothers, Charles Adkins, Howard Adkins and Glen Adkins.
