Roy C. Ginger, 60

Roy Curtis Ginger, 60, of Taylorville, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at 4:13 a.m. in the emergency room at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He will be cremated and the family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family.

Mr. Ginger was born Feb. 13, 1960, in Taylorville, the son of Roy and Cora Sue (Hughes) Ginger. He married Elizabeth Durbin on Dec. 13, 1980, in Taylorville, and she survives.

He previously worked as a mechanic, bartender and construction worker. He loved the outdoors, and any chance he had, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved birds, including parrots, macaws and cockatoos, and raised many pets throughout his life. More than anything, he loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and cherished all the time he spent with them.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by children, Greg (companion Casie) Matthews, Jeremy (companion Amanda) Ginger, Sarah (companion Elizabeth) Clayton, Roy Charles Ginger, Justin (companion Mary) Ginger and Mikiyah Ginger, all of Taylorville; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Terry (Keri) Ginger of Morrisonville, Carrie (Mark) Milligan of Taylorville, Sheila (Mike) Russell of Highland, Danny (Susie) Ginger and David Ginger, both of Pana and Gary Ginger of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Ginger; niece, Brenda Sylvester; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sadie and Charles Barnes.
