Ruby Pearl Tipsword, 95, of Panama, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mrs. Tipsword was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Sorento, the second oldest daughter of Aaron "Red" and Pearl (Robertson) Steele. She married Marvis Duane Tipsword on June 10, 1950, in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2012. They had no children.

Starting at the Sorento Post Office as a mail clerk, she then worked for the Army Depot in Decatur, and later transferred to Toms River, NJ, for the Army, where she retired after 20 years of service. She was excellent at what she did and won many awards over the course of her career.  She retired to Panama, where she lived the remainder of her life.

She is survived by her sister, Jewel Tipsword of Sorento; nieces, Marsha Gruner of Highland, Vicki Frigo Durbin of Hillsboro and Sharon Tipsword Eck of Springfield; nephews, Larry Gruner of Greenville and Rick Frigo of Jacksonville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Gruner and Bernice Frigo; and brothers-in-law, Harold Gruner, Bruno Frigo and Billy Tipsword.
