Ruth Grace (Hauser) Anderson, 98, of Springfield, died on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at her home.
Private family services were held with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Butler Funeral Home in Springfield assisted the family.
Mrs. Anderson was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Litchfield, the eldest daughter of Albert Vernon Hauser and Grace Baker Gregg Hauser. She married Fred Herman Anderson, and the couple enjoyed 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1941, and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1945. She served the university as a member of the faculty of the Rhetoric Division of the English department. Her husband was a student there at the time on the GI Bill.
In Springfield, Mrs. Anderson was active in the Girl Scouts with a troop in Southern View, and later became a partner in her husband’s home building business.
She is survived by three daughters; a son; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five siblings.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents.
