Ruth Marie Anna Kruse, 93, formerly of rural Walshville died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Heritage Health of Litchfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas with the Rev. Mark E. Sidney officiating.        

Interment will be in New Douglas Cemetery in New Douglas.

Mrs. Kruse was born in New Douglas on May 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Irwin and Ella (Windau) Hosto. She married Eldred L. Kruse on Aug. 17, 1941, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, and he preceded her in death.

She was a sales associate at Walmart in Litchfield. She previously assisted her husband on the family farm and later worked for Nickerson Farms Restaurant as a cashier/clerk and as a waitress at the Gardens Restaurant in Litchfield.  

Mrs. Kruse was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, where she was baptized on May 25, 1922, and confirmed on May 31, 1936. She taught Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran while she was still in high school. 

She was also a member of the Women of the Church Circle, Montgomery County Farm Bureau and New Douglas and Staunton Senior Citizen. She was a quilter all of her life and was a member of the Mt. Olive, New Douglas and Staunton quilting clubs.

Mrs. Kruse is survived by a son, John (wife Julie) Kruse of Staunton; daughter, Linda McKenna of St. Louis; son-in-law, James McKenna; grandchildren, Amanda, Brianna and Ethan Kruse and Monica (husband Daniel) Nickolai of St. Louis; great-grandchild, Lydia Marie Nickolai; brothers, Udell (wife Darlene) Hosto of Mt. Olive and Donald (wife Viviane) Hosto of Hillsboro; and numerous stepgrandchildren as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gillespie-Benld (Mt. Olive) Area Ambulance Service or to the donor’s choice.
