Ryan Neil Civitate, 47, of Coffeen, died on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 18, at Hough-Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mark Noyes officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, April 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hough-Dean.

Mr. Civitate was born on Feb. 12, 1979, the son of Frank Joseph Civitate and Debra Kay McNew. He married the former Melinda Elizabeth Caldwell in 2006 and together they shared three sons. While they later separated, they remained connected through their family.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Mr. Civitate  found great fulfillment in woodworking and working with his hands. Beyond his professional life, he was an active member of his community, coaching numerous sports teams for his sons over the years.

Mr. Civitate was an avid golfer and enjoyed staying informed through podcasts and spirited political debate. Those who knew him well will remember his impressive collection of Milwaukee tools, a testament to his passion for his craft.

Mr. Civitate is survived by his three sons, Dillon Neil (Mercedes E. Kuhl) Civitate, Kamdin John Civitate and Carter Clarence Civitate;  sister, Cara (Bill) White of Hillsboro; niece, Brooke White; nephew, Brandon White; companion, Julie Mathenia; and he was looking forward to the arrival of his grandchild, Emry Ann Sue Civitate.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Cathrine Civitate and Augusta Hartman; as well as his aunt, Maria Civitate.
