In a few short weeks, Chase Saathoff will be back at Hillsboro Junior High for his eighth grade year. But until then, you'll find Saathoff on his motorcycle as he continues to tear up tracks throughout the United states.
On July 13, Saathoff was at Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway in Indianapolis, testing out his back-up motorcycle, which once belonged to his sister, Sara. The Yamaha YZ 250 proved up to the task in Indy as Saathoff finished third in the open amateur and first in both the 250 and 249+ amateur classes.
A member of the Cory Texter Racing Amateur Team, Saathoff has also competed in Peoria and Greenville, OH, where he finished second in the 250 amateur, ninth in the open amateur and fourth in the "Dash for Cash" race, despite being the only 250cc motorcycle in the field.
Saathoff's work at these events and on his practice track has been in preparation for the AMA Flat Track Grand Championships, which were scheduled for July 22 in Ashland, OH, and July 24-26 at the Triangle Motorcycle Club in Harpster, OH. Heavy rains pushed back the opening day of the event in Ashland to July 23.
