Following the very successful first Sky View Scavenger Hunt last year, owners Mindy and Nick Pastrovich and Debbie and Mike Pastrovich are back with treasures and discounts for movies that will be hidden throughout the central to southern portions of Route 66.
The Sky View Scavenger Hunt involves finding a limited-edition magnet that will be hidden at famous Route 66 locations. Once found, these magnets are to be turned in at the participating business for a special gift and two free tickets to any movie at the Sky View, including the popular Throwback Series of Sunday movies from April through September.
In addition, those movie goers attending the "Smokey and the Bandit" movie on Sunday, April 14, in their 1976-77 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am will get special front row parking for the movie (contact the Sky View in advance to make special parking arrangements). The Trans-Am became famous in this classic film that stars Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason.
The throwback movie series are on the second Sunday of the month from April through September, which is the same time as the local Litchfield Pickers Market. The lineup of throwback movies for 2019 also includes “The Sound of Music” on May 12, “Dirty Harry” on June 9, “Goonies” on July 14, “Stand By Me” on Aug. 11 and “Psycho” on Sept. 8.
The Pastrovich family purchased the iconic drive-in movie theater located on Historic Route 66 in Litchfield, Illinois in 2016, and have been widely praised for their care and efforts in keeping the Sky View open for business while at the same time having fun and drawing attention to nearby Route 66 attractions and communities.
“We love the fact that the Sky View Scavenger Hunt brings attention to fellow Route 66 attractions in the area while at the same time offering free drive-in tickets and prize packages,” said Geoff Ladd, assistant director of Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway. “This year’s throwback line-up is especially awesome!”
“This is such a great way to have fun on Illinois Route 66, and we love partnering with other 66 businesses,” said Owner Mindy Pastrovich. “Our first Route 66 scavenger hunt business is located in a Blue Carpet Corridor Town. Look for more clues on social media over the next week as hunters narrow in on our first featured business!”
