Sharon K. Tarrant, 75, of Taylorville, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at 9:34 p.m. at her residence.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Taylorville First United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Inurnment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees are asked to wear a mask and follow all health guidelines. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family.

Mrs. Tarrant was born Nov. 5, 1944, in Taylorville, the daughter of Gerald and Mildred (Sparks) Hartel. She married Archibald Tarrant on Sept. 5, 1964, in Grove City, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2000.

A graduate of Sangamon State University, she received her degree in accounting. She retired after working many years for Christian County. She was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church, BPW and the Red Hat Society. 

For many years, she enjoyed taking part in chili cooking competitions. A joy in her life was traveling, especially spending time in Gulf Shores during the winter. More than anything, she loved her family and many dear friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Holze of Poplar Grove and Erica (Daniel) Tarrant-Wilson of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Devon Holze, Phoebe Wilson and Brandon Holze; siblings, Jerry  (Carol) Hartel of Paris, MO, Marilyn Milewski of Chicago and Jane McIntyre of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Brian Traughber, Cydney Hartel, Jill Hartel, Penny Milslagle, Brooke Morris, Tiana Cooper, Daisy Richards and Antonio Freemon; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
