Shirley E. Hemann, 81, of New Douglas, died on Monday, April 22, 2019, at Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 27, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, 205 North 7th Street. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Zachary Lysdahl officiating. Burial will be held in New Douglas Cemetery.
Mrs. Hemann was born Oct. 1, 1937, in Staunton, to Thomas and Dina (Busse) Stipcak, Sr. She married Ronald R. Hemann on Dec. 22, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton, and he survives.
For 30 years, she served as a secretary for her church, Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas. During that time, she was also a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hemann is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Braeden) Harris of Riverside, CT; son, Randy (Carole) Hemann of New Douglas; grandsons, Corey (Megan) Hemann of Alhambra and Codey (Mickala Chasteen) Hemann of Edwardsville; brothers, Thomas (Beverly) Stipcak of Staunton and Jerry (Kris) Stipcak of Lilburn, GA; sisters-in-law, Ardith Brown of Highland and Janet (Donald) Klein of Collinsville; brother-in-law, Ralph (Sue) Hemann of Kennett, MO; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Bill Brown.
