Shirley (Cross) Ginos, 96, of Hillsboro, died on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro, where she lived for 11 years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 17, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Meyer and Mark Noyes co-officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Ginos was born March 3, 1923, in Slater, MO, to Russell and Vivian (Johnson) Cross. She married William A. Ginos, Jr. of Hillsboro on June 13, 1944, and he preceded her in death.

She moved to Chicago, later graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign in 1944, with a degree in mathematics. Following her marriage, she and her husband raised six children.

Mrs. Ginos faithfully attended and was active in the First Christian Church of Hillsboro, serving as board chair and treasurer, as well as being very active in the Christian Women's Fellowship. For a number of years, she also served as treasurer of the Inter-Church Community Aid and the Hillsboro Ministerial Association.

She was an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Food Bank, CEFS, the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. More recently, she volunteered to read to elementary school students.

Mrs. Ginos co-owned and operated the Manor Motel in Hillsboro for many years, from the 60s to the early 80s.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Judy) of Clarksvile, TN, Janet (Rod) of Springfield, Alan (Barb) of Walnut Creek, CA, Steven (Elizabeth) of Quincy and Will (Lisa) of Dallas, TX; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Russell (wife Sandra) Cross of Montana; and one sister, Bettye Bennett of Oregon.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ginos was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Mark B. Ginos.
