Shirley K. (Buzick) Mitchelar ,65, of Staunton, died on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 7, at Net Community Church in Staunton, with Pastor Derrick Taylor officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Mrs. Mitchelar was born on Oct. 2, 1954, in Granite City, to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Buzick. She married Don Mitchelar on Oct. 14, 1972, in Carlinville. Williamson Funeral Homes of Staunton assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Mitchelar worked as a respiratory therapist at Community Hospital in Staunton. She was a member of Net Community Church of Staunton. She was lovingly devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her family describes her as a friend to all, who was always willing to help anyone and never knew a stranger.
She is survived by her husband; children, John Mitchelar of Benld, Mike (Melissa) Mitchelar of Staunton and Matt (Shannon) Mitchelar of Staunton; grandchildren, Kade, Dane, Zander, Garrett, John, Emmett and Beckett; siblings, David (Belva) Stearns of Hillsboro, Larry (Monica) Buzick of Staunton, Lynn (Kandy) Buzick of Staunton, Glenda (Rod) Rensing of Oakaville, Randy (Sandra) Buzick of Belleville, Ralph (Kandy) Buzick of Edwardsville, Kenny Buzick of Staunton and Julianne (Scott) Laforia of Mt. Olive; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Janet Raymond, Carol Ring, Mary Ann Wall and Carl Buzick.
